Challenge Poem: Point of No Return

Apr 24, 2015 by

I couldn’t think up a good challenge for a poem like I can for scenes (you know? those scenes I never actually write) so I decided to follow my own prompt:

Prompt 4

Wasn’t I the one who said not to worry?
Wasn’t I the one who gave them hope?
Wasn’t this what I wanted?
Now I’m awake at night with worry
Now I’m losing all hope
Now I know this isn’t what I wanted

I can’t go back
The point of no return is behind me
I can’t go on
Death is ahead of me
I can’t stay still
They’ll go on without me
I can’t forgive myself
Because of me they’re already dead
