Letter to Spell Check

Feb 21, 2013 by

Dear Spell Check,

You’re one of the most important things to us writers and without you we’d all be lost, however sometimes you say things that leave me lost, like when you told me that “So can I” should be “So can me.” Shouldn’t you know when to use I and when to use me? And once you told me that “That’s all” should be “That are all.” Since when was is and are interchangeable? And just a few days ago you told me to change yourself into you in  ‘“Don’t get yourself killed,” the female voice snapped.’ And you must have been tired the day you told me to end a sentence with a comma.

And then there’s the times you don’t correct me. Like when I posted a chapter of my fanfic and it had the wrong version of through in it. And how could you not tell me that “I’ve haven’t got to that part yet” was wrong? It’s a good thing I caught it before I let someone else read it.

And I’m not even going to get into this one “?Is it… alive?”

I definitely-if only for that word I just typed-need you to correct my spelling, but when it comes to grammar I think you need to go back to school.

Love, Hannah
