Hymns have been a joy to me throughout my life and a source of growing fascination. I’m very grateful to The Hymn Society of the United States and Canada for helping me to learn about the craft of hymn writing.

A collection of my texts entitled Elemental Joy was released in 2025. You can also find my work in the United Church of Canada’s new hymnal Then Let Us Sing, Kate Williams’ collection Bless What Is Breaking, Ben Brody’s collection At the Weaving of Creation, Mark Miller’s album Revolution of the Heart, and Resounding Voices, “an ecumenical and interfaith collection that addresses the continued dearth of songs for worship by women.”

I share individual pieces on this blog as they are released digitally by GIA or in text-only format for more immediate use. To see all of my pieces that have been published to date by GIA, click here. Digital files can be purchased for $5 and then reproduced for worship with One License. Please report your use so that artists get paid!

If you’d like to learn more about my interest in hymns, you could listen to this interview from Voices United: A Congregational Song Podcast or read this reflection that I shared with my local church conference. I have been a pastor in the United Church of Christ (USA) since 2007 and have served for many years at West Concord Union Church.

If you would like to receive notice when a new hymn is posted, please enter your email address into the subscription box below the index on the homepage. You can also find me on Instagram or Facebook.
